Whenever a light-bulb blows in my home, I will replace it with an energy saving bulb. This will not only reduce emissions from my home, but also save me money in the long run.   Why this will help

I will wash my laundry at 30^oC, and make sure I always wash a full load. This way I will save not only electricity and money, but better preserve my clothes.   Why this will help

I will draft proof all the doors and windows in my home, and save around £20 and 140kg of CO₂ per year by doing so.   Why this will help

I will buy locally produced and organic food whenever I can. I will also look into getting my fruit and veg delivered from a local organic box scheme.    Why this will help

When my fridge, freezer or washing machine stop working and can no longer be repaired, I will replace it with the most energy efficient model I can afford.    Why this will help

I will get into the habit of never leaving any of my electrical appliances, like my TV and PC, on standby.    Why this will help

This year when I plan my holiday, I will choose a destination that I can travel to by train or bus, instead of flying.    Why this will help

I will insulate my loft within the next year to the recommended level of 270mm. This could save me around £200 a year, and reduce emissions from my home by about 1.5 tonnes of CO₂.    Why this will help

I will walk or cycle with my child to school instead of taking them by car. This way, not only will I reduce my CO₂ footprint, but both me and my child will get valuable exercise.     Why this will help

After finding out which is the most suitable option for my property I will install a solar hot water heater, solar pv panel, biomass boiler or other kind of micropower generation.    Why this will help

When shopping for groceries I will try and avoid over packaged goods, buy locally when possible and only buy what is needed.    Why this will help

I will buy a compost bin, wormery or a Bokashi so that I am able to turn my organic waste into compost and therefore help reduce greenhouse gases.   Why this will help
